Probably a bit of a weird take on here but I don’t think defence is actually the issue currently - I think it’s actually how the attack is utilised.
In fact - the Storm have actually improved on tackle effectiveness (stopping off-loads etc) and aren’t missing a heap of tackles generally.
But the completion rates (76 per cent), errors, general run metres and post-contact metres aren’t up to standard.

Conceded: 18, 24, 14, 24, 14, 42. That's almost 23 points a game. Take out the debacle against the Dolphins, it's still 19 points a game.riders of the storm wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 10:40 am Probably a bit of a weird take on here but I don’t think defence is actually the issue currently - I think it’s actually how the attack is utilised.

I think defence is absolutely our biggest problem. Sort the defence out and we have time to get the attack right.
Yes, there were WAAAAY too many errors, and some of them gave the Dolphins opportunities; but honestly there were only one or two tries there that the Jersey Flegg boys wouldn't have been embarrassed to give up. The Josh Kerr try set the tone for the night. Strangely, the moment Jack went off it seemed like the entire squad was replaced with reserve graders - most of whom were afraid of contact.
We must all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately
I think scoring is up league wide because we were giving up 20 a game before the Phins game but were 5th in points against per game. I think the defence has been mostly fine until we get to the point where our bench middles start to tire. From then on it has been a total crapshoot in the middle of the field and then we get killed out wide.
We have also built a lot of bad habits to start the season as we're blowing games open and then not really caring afterwards. Putting up 40+ games is nice but I will start to feel better once we start winning dog fights 16-12 or something.

Really need to improve defence. I don’t think we’ve kept anyone below 14 and averaging 20 ish per game is 10 too many.
South’s have some danger men - Gray, Wighton, Mitchell all have class.
Both teams missing some key players. Looks like it could be set. I’d be up for a grinding low scoring win too

Adam Gee as video ref.
After the absolute dog's breakfast (no pun intended) he served up in the Brisbane Canterbury game last night, I fully expect him to be trigger happy on sin bins.
