How so?

I'm clearing these up whenever I spot them, but the frequency is certainly increasing. I would love to be able to block entire IP ranges from problematic hosts (like I do on the servers that I manage), or at least implement stricter registration protocols.

Thanks Insomniac.
I've been cleaning and blocking as I see them too, but I've been away and haven't seen any for a while so thought they had taken a break.

@sallymay, unfortunately it's just bots and we don't manually approve every registration.

Is manual authentication of accounts not possible?

I thought only Buzz (site owner) could activate this, if it wasn't already, but I have taken a closer look at the registration settings and discovered that user email verification wasn't even enabled - I have now enabled this setting as a first step, so hopefully this helps. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to manually authenticating new users either if need be.

@Buzz / TC: let me know if you have any objections to this change and I'll revert these settings.

Thanks Insomniac, fine by me.

Do you admin/mods hear from Buzz much? Doesn't say much on the forum. Is it just you two and Buzz?

I haven't heard from Buzz for a while, but I can see he still lurks around and keeps the background mechanics working. I think family has become a really big thing for him in the last couple of years, so good for him.

There are a few of us, but myself, Insomniac and Mattpoet are the 3 you are most likely to see around.

You're welcome. Thanks for the recognition. 8)

It's not usually hard work; apart from some russian bots, a few trolls and the occasional argument it's usually pretty quiet. A good little community.
