Interesting allegations that Adkins is a Penrith life member. Not suggesting he cannot be unbiases but.........Bullucked wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 9:53 pm
We'll here the usual claptrap, "the video has access to footage we don't". If that's indeed the case then show us.
This decision reminds me very much of 2006 and Hollywood in the box.
Having said this, we were already shot. Looks like the game plan was to run everything at Cleary (didn't we learn from 2019?) and lay down behind the play the ball

We didn’t do enough with the ball and they defended very well.
Out middles were outgunned.
Frustrated we caught a lot of high kicks and did nothing with it. They caught one and scored
Lots of effort but 2nd best..

It was clear from the opening sets that it's widely known Coates is a poor return of the ball, due to his running style being very upright it just takes the initial hit to put him on his back foot and he's pushed over with no trouble.
Warbrick looked miles better in contact.

Bullucked video decision made me think of 2006 as well.Bullucked wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 9:53 pm

In my opinion Nelson would’ve made a huge difference
Still might’ve lost but we would’ve got more forward each set …
In the end I guess I’m just glad it was close and not a blow out like I feared …it just hurts knowing we have the team it to do it just not tonight
As bellza said the boys who hadn’t been in a GF got their expirence tonight we aren’t losing too many from the squad and gaining a few hopefully it helps us and we get back to the gf and make a splash
Gotta lose one to win one

I will never understand how we are not shown on TV the angle that in the bunkers opinion made it a no try, not inconclusive - no try.
There was an angle that showed the ball appearing to be grounded. You could clearly see the ball, no players were blocking it. Where is the secondary angle that showed that at that moment it wasn’t grounded? Where is the angle to not just rule that the first angle wasn’t inconclusive but that it was genuinely not grounded?
Because it sure seemed to look like there was some grass on that ball and the reactions of the players when they saw the replay said the same thing. The only person who agreed with the decision was Brad Panther, sorry Fittler.
Considering how hard we worked in the first part of that half, the no try was a killer. We were building some actual momentum for the first time in the game, where to be fair we had none.

I agree - NAS helps, even just from an opposition mentality point of view. He is a big boy and requires a lot of work to restrict. Maybe that frees up the other forwards to get a little extra rest and can impact, maybe more chaos around the ruck to free up the ball players. Always a what if unfortunately.sallymay wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2024 11:55 pm In my opinion Nelson would’ve made a huge difference

What a bloody good effort against a team that seems to have no salary cap (if they do, then it isn't working). I hope next year we learn to tackle because our missed tackle count tonight and throughout the year has been atrocious—tonight, there were 150+ missed tackles!! Also, Atkins was also the ref who awarded a non-try to the Sharks when we played them earlier in the year that won them the match. I don't expect the NSWL to come out throughout the week and admit he fked up again. We also need to look into our past two years and why there have been so many injuries, can't be a coinsurance.

Great year by the boys, hard to swallow falling at the final hurdle but Penrith are a fantastic team who deserved to win.
I thought there was 2 glaring issues as to why we lost tonight, Munster and Hughes played probably their worst game they have all year, the ball movement was clunky and the kicking game was horrendous, we saw how easily Coates was flying over To’o and we couldn’t land a kick on the try line all night.
The second as many have mentioned was our forward pack just didn’t aim up, I thought Harry and the back rowers tried their guts out but the front row rotation was the real let down, Tui, Christian, King and Macca were all poor. No platform laid to work off and it showed. NAS and Utoikamanau in those spots next year will make a massive difference.
Outside backs made a lot of poor errors too, Paps was blunted, the missed tackles were horrendous, we really did save one of our worst performances of the year for the biggest stage.
I hope this lights a fire and pushes the squad next year to go one better, sometimes you gotta lose one to win one and it seems to be our pattern, 06 loss 07 win, 08 loss 09 win, 16 loss 17 win, 18 loss 20 win, now 24 loss …

Nuh feels more like the loss in 06 when all our players were inexperienced none had played a grand final (except Geyer) and just lost
The image of Issy Folau in 08 crying still makes me sad
The pictures from the dressing room of all the players shattered is sad they deserved so much more
